چکیده

Pïcosecond time dependent fluorescente depolarization has been used to measure the rotational diff=sion time of 3,3’iliethyloxadicarjocyanine iodide (DODCI) in solution at 293 K: the stable form of DODCI was shown to have a “coiled” form, the cis,&-1 ,%conformation, whereas the photoisomer formed bu tiradiating DODCI in solution was shown to be tbe elongated all-trnrzs-isomer. The stable form has a rotational correlation time of 160 k 30 ps in ethanol and 320 k40 ps in isopropanol; the fluorescente lifetimes were 1.2 2 0.1 ns (ethanol) and 1.6 5 0.1 ns (isopropanol). The all-fuans-photoisomer bas a rotational correlation time of ,700 ps in isopropanol and a fluorescente lifetime of 0.42 kO.05 ns. Ftirthermore, the rotational diffusion times agree closely with those predicted on the basis of the Stokes-Einstein hydrodynamic model, indicating a lack of any solvent attachment to DODCI in solution.

Biosorption of acid dyes from aqueous solution using Curcuma angustifolia scales

Background: The presence of even a very small quantity of dye in water bodies is undesirable and affects the water bodies. Dye removal from industrial waste water is significant; hence in this study, a material that is an economical waste product was employed to test its acid dye removing capacity from aqueous solution. Methods: In this study, batch mode experiments were performed in the sorpt...

Electrodynamic coupling of electric dipole emitters to a fluctuating mode density within a nanocavity.

We investigate the impact of rotational diffusion on the electrodynamic coupling of fluorescent dye molecules (oscillating electric dipoles) to a tunable planar metallic nanocavity. Fast rotational diffusion of the molecules leads to a rapidly fluctuating mode density of the electromagnetic field along the molecules' dipole axis, which significantly changes their coupling to the field as compar...

Chemistry of Pyrolysis and Kinetic Studies of Shea Nut (Vitellaria paradoxa) Shells Activated Carbon for Textile Waste Water Treatment

Phosphoric acid (H3PO4) and Zinc chloride (ZnCl2) catalyzed shea nut shells, subjected to a one way activation scheme was employed to study the adsorption kinetics and mode of diffusion of industrial dye uptake. Thermodynamics data obtained in this study indicate that the sorption of dye spontaneously increases with time and decreases after equilibration was...

Ultraviolet Picosecond Pump-probe Spectroscopy with a Synchronously Pumped Dye Laser. Rotational Diffusion of Diphenyl Butadiene

Over the last few years synchronously pumped dye lasers have been used to study a range of relaxation processes [1]. The wide wavelength tunability available gives an important advantage over passively mode-locked systems [2,3] when sub-picosecond time resolution is not required. In order to study smaller molecules more amenable to theoretical description it is important to extend the high repe...

Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy as a tool to investigate single molecule probe dynamics in thin polymer films.

Fluorescence correlation experiments were performed on rhodamine 6G in PDMS spin-coated films on glass surfaces. With polarised excitation, ensemble bleaching of the dye and single molecule intensity fluctuations were observed. From the statistics of single molecule intensity data taken at different positions in the film, correlation functions were calculated. Two modes of motion with exponenti...
